The Sleep Journal provides actionable and evidence-based insights to help you improve your sleep. This book also outlines the benefits of sleep, information on sleep stages, and factors important for sleep, amongst other topics. You will also learn tips to manage sleep issues caused by anxiety, jet lag, and night shift.
Creating this journal was important to me because of my experiences with chronic insomnia.
Every area of my life had been affected, including my health, work and relationships. I remember feeling painfully exhausted all day, yet unable to sleep more than a few hours each night. Intrusive and racing thoughts would play on a loop, and my body was tense and vigilant as if ready to spring into action at any moment. It was as if my body was trying to keep me safe from an imaginary threat. This was my reality for almost two years and I couldn't help but feel completely helpless.
If only I knew then, what I do now!
Then I’d have had the tools and self compassion to better get through this period of my life. For me, there is power in knowing that I can take action to support a more restful night’s sleep.
Drawing on my research background in psychology, and motivated by my experiences with insomnia, I felt inspired to create a resource that offers science-backed methods for better sleep to improve overall health and wellbeing. By learning effective strategies for better sleep and managing stress, you can feel more in control when life becomes inevitably stressful.
